Student Stories: Jaime Mota

jaimemotaWhat is your home country?

Mexico City, Mexico

How long have you been an LVFV student?

About four years.

Why did you choose to study with LVFV?

It worked best with my schedule at work; I can come for one hour and then go to work. Working one-to-one with a tutor is also much more helpful - in a classroom you are just in a big room with several other people.

What are your goals?

When I first came to the U.S. I didn't know any English; I could understand other people but they couldn't understand me, so my primary goal was to learn the language. I keep coming because I want to learn even more English than I know now. It has continued to help me in my job and with my kids. I have a son who is 13 and he doesn't want to speak Spanish at home any more. All his school work is in English and he sometimes needs help, so I want to learn more English so I can help him.

What do you like about LVFV?

My tutor is very patient; she explains things as many times as I need her to. She makes things fun, so our sessions are never boring.

“Thank you for your many hours of teaching and patience with feeding my soul and showing me that the best things stand just one step beyond.”
